Sergio Romero becomes Man Utd’s fifth signing of the season

The never ending ‘De Gea to Real’ saga has seemingly gained new momentum with the news Sergio Romero has become Louis Van Gaal’s fifth signing of the season.

The Argentinian international, having deciding not to renew his contract with Sampdoria, previously won the Dutch 2008-09 Eredivisie under the management if the Dutch coach whilst with AZ Alkmaar.

Speaking to the BBC, Van Gaal commented on his new addition;
“We have to prepare our season with the threat that David De Gea is going to Real Madrid.”

Commenting on the possibility De Gea may be staying with the Manchester club;

“You need always competition, When I see that a player is better than the player in the line-up, he shall play the next match.”

Interesting, suffice to say, United currently hold a hell of a goalkeeping threesome in De Gea, Romero and Victor Valdes…the latter can probably assume his time is up however.
