Shocking news has come via Mediotempo.com that Mexico international Alan Pulido has been kidnapped, news confirmed by the players brother Armando Pulido.
The player, who plays his club football with Greek club Olympiakos, disappeared on Saturday in the northern border state of Tamaulipas in his homeland – a state official commented that the incident occurred after Pulido had left a party.
Whilst details are quite scarce at this stage, Armando could confirm.
“Yes, it’s true, the kidnapping of Alan,” he said. “He disappeared since early morning and we have the full support of the governor.”
The Federal Police of Tamaulipas are currently looking into the case. A spokesperson, albeit an unofficial one, commenting;
“There have been many calls from Mexico. We cannot give any more details,”
Pulido debuted and played several seasons with the club Tigres of Monterrey. The player also represented Mexico at the 2014 World Cup, however had been left out of this years Copa America squad due to a legal dispute with his former club.
The area has since seen a wide scale manhunt for the footballer. Many have linked the happening to disputes involving the regions largest cartel, Los Zetas, with two factions at civil war. With funding needed to keep fighting, kidnapping is supposedly seen as a valid way to keep financed.
Genuinely terrifying stuff, lets all hope this doesn’t come to a sticky end.
