Youngster Ben Woodburn made history last night by becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer during the clubs 2-0 EFL Cup win over Leeds.
The seventeen year old, making only his second appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side, impressed for the Merseysiders during his 23 minute spell on the pitch, contributing with three shots on target.
Woodburn’s 81st minute goal however was what truly drew the adulation of the home support, with his effort beating former Kop hero Michael Owen by 100 days to take the youngest goalscorer crown.
Whilst Leeds United will curse their luck on the night having had some decent opportunities, in the end they were undone by goals from Divock Origi as well as the seventeen year old, ensuring Liverpool’s passage to the Semi Final.
