Wolves vs Liverpool Match Preview

The Christmas period is just about upon us and what better way to celebrate than by a Friday night offering of Premier League football. Molineux acts as the venue as Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to Liverpool with NunoEspirito’s men hoping to pull off another upset.

Recently they got the better of Chelsea at home and their fans will be confident that they can claim another scalp this weekend, especially if they’ve been smart enough to backthem beforehand and make use of a quinnbet coupon code.

Wolves bright start to the season was somewhat tempered by the fact that they went on a streak that saw them earn just one point from a possible 18 on offer, however they seem to be out the other side of that blip and back to playing some of their best football of the season.

Not only that but they have a number of options in attack that can be utilised. One of those will be the lightning fast pace of Adama Traore who has recently been deployed as the central striker in a front three.

The logic here is that he can then be even more direct with his pace. When the former Middlesbrough winger plays out wide there is only so much threat he can offer, especially when he has to then put a ball into the box for one of his colleagues to latch onto.

However, if he is deployed in the centre then he can cause opposition defences many more headaches, something that he and his teammates will be looking to do when a patched up Liverpool back four comes to town.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is down to the bare bones with both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip out through injury until the new year, that means that Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren will have to be wrapped in cotton wool over the next few weeks.

Something that is easier said than done when you consider the amount of football that will be played during this festive period and especially with the almost season defining clash against Manchester City on the horizon.

January 3rd sees the two title rivals go head to head at the Etihad and Liverpool will need to make sure that they keep applying the pressure on the defending champions beforehand, the last thing they can do is let City pull clear.

And the only way to do is that is by picking up all three points in the West Midlands, again an objective that looks easier on paper but is actually a difficult one to complete. Something that title rivals Manchester City and Chelsea will both be able to attest to.

They have both dropped points on this ground and because of that Wolves will fancy their chances of turning in another excellent performance, especially as they seem to be saving these for when they face the best the Premier League has to offer.

Liverpool do undoubtedly have the firepower to come out on top, but their lack of defensive personnel will certainly offer Wolves some hope. Both teams to score with the Reds snatching the win might be where the smart money ends up going on this one.
