Wolfsburg fine Max Kruse after he loses €75,000 in the back of a taxi following Poker World Series win

Wolfsburg striker and poker aficionado Max Kruse was left cursing some rather rotten luck after managing to leave a massive wod of cash in the back of a Taxi.

Kruse had claimed a prize of €75,000 during a World Series Poker tournament in Berlin back in mid-October following a game against Hoffenheim the previous day, probably a tad tired after a marathon of card playing, the player somehow forgot about his prize.

After franticly trying to relocate his winnings, as far the amount is yet to be retrieved.

Quite astoundingly, after catching wind of his exploits in the press, his club failed to see the incident as a one of the truly great rock and roll anecdotes and fined him a further €25,000.

Wolfsburg’s sporting executive Klaus Allofs was the man to reprimand the player over his conduct. He commented;

You might be a private person as a footballer when you are in your bed. At any other point, you are also an employee of the club.

We have explained to him what sort of behaviour we expect from our players.

I can only hope that he has been taught a lesson and will change his behaviour.

A truly glorious night turned sour. We can only suggest however that Wolfsburg are rather hard up at the moment to be dealing out such ridiculously large fines.
