Who Will Win the Race for Kane?

With Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham looking far from certain, there are plenty of clubs considering moves for the prolific striker.

Here are three possible suitors who could use someone of Kane’s talents, and have the financial clout to pull off such a high-profile deal.

Manchester City

The newly crowned Premier League champions are one of the sides that have been linked with the England captain, as they look for a long-term replacement for the departing Sergio Aguero. City, who are 4/6 in the football betting to win the Premier League title next season, need another striker to work alongside Gabriel Jesus at the Etihad Stadium. Kane would thrive working under a manager such as Pep Guardiola, who could be the man to take the forward’s game to an even higher level.

The signing of Kane would be a real statement of intent from the English champions, and could help them stay ahead of the chasing pack next season. Should the striker go to one of their rivals, then City would have to look at other high-profile options, with Borussia Dortmund starlet Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain talent Kylian Mbappe being linked.

Manchester United

Across the city, Manchester United have also been strongly linked with Kane, in what would be a marquee signing for the club. The Red Devils have a long history of attracting top English players from Premier League rivals, with the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Harry Maguire all making big-money moves in the past.

United are blessed with some talented young forwards, with Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood looking set to have bright futures at Old Trafford. However, both players tend to feature in slightly wider roles, and United are in need of a long-term option to play through the middle. Edinson Cavani has signed a one-year contract extension and can fill that central role, but at 34 years old, the Uruguayan won’t be that long-term option the club are seeking. At 27 years old, Harry Kane is.

Real Madrid

While there has of course been plenty of interest from Premier League rivals in the Tottenham star, there has been speculation of a possible move abroad. Real Madrid are always linked when it comes to top talent, and Los Blancos are believed to be monitoring Kane’s situation in north London.

Reports have suggested they would have to offload players to raise funds to land Kane, but they could consider a move for the attacker. With Karim Benzema approaching the end of his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, Kane would be an ideal replacement for the France international.

It looks set to be an intriguing summer in the transfer window, and a move for Kane away from Tottenham would be one of the biggest deals in recent years. Manchester City appear to be a preferred destination for Kane, and the Citizens might be the ones to win the race for his coveted signature.
