The Vancouver Whitecaps striker Masato Kudo is currently facing surgery for a fractured jaw following an an ugly collision during Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago Fire.
The Japanese international was chasing down a through-ball from a team-mate in the early stages of the match when the opposition stopper came out to close him down and collided at high speed.
With the striker knocked clean out, disturbingly with blood coming from his mouth due to a bitten tongue, fellow players quickly alerted staff for medical attention.
After an anxious silence it was reported the player was conscious, with en impending hospital visit his next port of call.
