Wayne Rooney returns to Merseyside as a Blue

The man may have had his detractors over the previous few years, never-the-less Wayne Rooney’s 253 goals in 559 games for United, a staggering record in the cold light of day, can be considered proof enough of his undoubted talent and importance to Manchester United over the past decade.

Indeed, after 13 trophy-laden years, the Merseyside-born striker has decided to leave Old Trafford for the club where he first made his name, his beloved Everton – signing for the Liverpudlians in a two-yearr deal.

As part of the whole transfer package, The Red Devils have picked up hotshot Romelu Lukaku in a confirmed £75m deal.

Following on from an emotionally filled 24hrs for the 31-year old, Rooney had the following word to say;

“It’s a great feeling to be back. I cannot wait to meet the lads, get on the training pitch and then get on the pitch to play,” he added.

“I’m not just coming back because it’s the team I support, the team I grew up playing for – I’m coming back because I feel the club can move forward and be successful,” said Rooney, who scored 17 goals in 77 games in his first spell at Goodison.
