Ah the Panenka penalty.
Whenever a player wants to make the moment all solely him, rather than, say, send a thunderbolt right into the top corner on behalf of his teammates, then a Panenka tends to be the go-to-move for any footballing prima-dona
With his side 2-0 down in his countries once in a life time quarter final against Argentina, Venezuela’s Luis Seijas had a glorious opportunity to bring his side right back into proceedings.
Stepping up full of confidence, the midfielder hedged his bets on a cheeky dink down the middle. Only the goalkeeper Sergio Romero’s was wise to his sneaky ways, catching the ball with ease as it slowly moved towards him.
Argentina would later go on to trounce Venezuela 4-1 and proceed to the Semi Final’s.
