Ireland were left tending their wounds in England-like fashion after drawing their group opener against Sweden 1-1.
Like the Three Lions, the men in green put in a superb early tournament performance, only to come undone courtesy of an agonising own goal by Ciaran Clark.
Whilst three points would have more than set a Euro 2016 marker, they still have a decent chance of qualifying with an underwhelming Belgium failing to pull up any trees in their 2-0 defeat to Italy.
In many ways, keeping the Irish in the competition for as long as possible would go along way to change the tournament narrative, what with some horrific scenes in Marseille recently.
