Shocking: Steward Hit By Flare As Trouble Halts Croatia vs Czech Republic

Croatia fans have joined a number of sides seemingly testing UEFA’s patience following some rather ugly scenes at the end of a 2-2 draw with Czech Republic.

With rumours of potential corruption in the countries FA as the subject of their protest, echoing a previous World Cup qualifier incident, fans began to shell the pitch with a number of flares with minutes left on the clock, despite their country leading at the time 2-1 – behaviour that led to in-fighting among the section of support.

One shocking incident saw a rogue flare knock a steward to the floor after it appeared to explode in his hand, causing an echoing boom around the whole stadium.

Referee Mark Clattenburg had already suspended the game due to the behaviour of the supporters, Croatian players even went as far as to approach their fans with the hope of calming thier grievances.

It’s been reported that the outcome of the trouble will lead to a points deduction for the Croat’s, what with UEFA holding a strong stance on the use of flares in matches. However, it is more likely Croatia will just see a suspended exclusion, as Russia faced following their crowd trouble.

What ever the reason’s behind the behaviour, it’s difficult to be a proud Croatia supporter with incidents of this ilk.
