After a trophy filled decade playing among Europe’s elite clubs (and West Ham), Carlos Tevez has come good on his promise and returned to the club where it all began.
40,000 Boca fans crammed into La Bombonera to greet their hero, even Diego Maradona payed tribute to the striker by producing a banner with the words “Thanks for coming back Carlitos“.
An absolutely beaming Tevez commented;
There is nothing better than this for me. Nothing compares to this, nothing. These are my people, and also it’s great because I don’t have to speak in English or Italian anymore
Astonished by his reception, the Argentine continued;
Look, I would still be at home, relaxing, getting warm. It’s tough to believe that so many people faced the cold to come and see me. It’s incredible, it’s beautiful, and I’m very thankful for the affection of the fans.
The striker has signed for the Beunos Aires club for a reported €6.5 million, with Juventus having first options on a host of Boca’s young players.
At 31 years of age, the club and it’s fans will be delighted that they’ll be seeing the absolute best from the former Man City striker.
Boca’s gain is certainly Juve’s loss.
