Winning at least one trophy or achieved promotion with every team he has coached since 1997, including two sensational La Liga titles in 2002 and 2004, not to mention being the only manager in history to have won the UEFA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup, the fact remains…..supporters welcome Rafa Benitez in the same way they welcome a tropical disease.
Having endured his weekly boo-athon courtesy of some rather un-accommodating Real Madrid fans, at least Valencia fans were on hand to cheer the former Liverpool boss up.
Unveiled prior to the sides 2-2 draw yesterday evening, which happened to be a rip roaring contest between the sides, was this heart warming banner.
Roughly translated, the sign reads: “Rafa you gave us the best years of our lives. Thank you.”

With banners like that, and with Rafa’s Madrid job constantly under scrutiny, perhaps Gary Neville will be asking for a return to his Monday night football gig sooner rather than later.
