Making a welcome change to the usual paraphernalia thrown from the stands at an average football match, Eredivisie side Den Haag’s fans have turned the notion of self entitled club supporters on it’s head following some genuinely heart warming scenes this weekend.

Ahead of their away trip to Feyenoord, fans were encouraged to bring cuddly toys with the news that patients from Sophia Children’s Hospital would be walking side by side with the players as they entered the pitch. Following their foray onto the pitch, Den Haag supporters, armed with nothing but the cuddly blighters, unleashed the toys into the air with the recipients sitting in the below Feyenoord end turning to catch the hundreds of cuddly gifts being thrown.

Here’s footage.

A statement on the Feyenoord club website read: ‘Feyenoord hopes that all children and staff can enjoy a carefree day at De Kuip.’
They also posted on Twitter before the game with the instruction: ‘A call to all away supporters. Take with you a little cuddly toy to the game.
‘Just make sure there are no hard things in the toy. So no beads and buttons, children from the Sophia Children’s Hospital will be under us in the away end.’

Lovely stuff…
