No doubt already sick to death of his esteemed nemesis given their history, it seems like Jose Mourinho is set to come off second best yet again to to Pep Guardiola as Manchester City hover ever closer to the signing of Alexis Sanchez.
Despite the Gunner’s reluctance to cash in on their main asset as his contract steadily runs out, the Chilean striking sensation has been heavily targeted by the Citizens for the best part of two seasons. With the players reported harmony with the rest of his teammates at an all time low, Guardiola is the bookies favourite, and you’d be wise to take a punt with this list of free bets, to get his man with a £25m bid. Hardly chump change given the opportunity to sign him at the end of the season for nothing.
Wanting to add further attacking weight to his expensively assembled squad, Mourinho has only just recently entered the transfer arena in order to steal the former Barca man right under the noses of their rivals.
In-fact, according to TalkSport, United were reportedly open to using talented play-maker Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a makeweight in order to steer the deal in their favour.
An Arsenal Legend?
Signed by Arsenal at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Sanchez has gone on to become a stand out performer for his side. Whilst the double Copa America winner has picked up 3 FA Cup winners medals during his time, the strikers frustrations at time have been embarrassingly public for his club with the player clearly berating his fellow players on a regular basis for their on the field short comings.
Despite his rocky relationship, Sanchez last season offered up a sensational 24 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League as the side yet again faltered domestically. As furious as the ‘characters’ on Arsenal TV become, it’s been hard to knock such an apparently divisive individual when his clear passion and hardwork results in undeniably impressive statistics.
With Manchester City running away with the league title at this juncture, it would be perfectly understandable if the forward wanted to join the party half-way through in order to pick up a to date elusive league winners medal.
United on the other hand, as talented as the squad is, are streets behind City in the way of footballing cohesion. With Gabriel Jesus’ injury leaving an open vacancy for Sanchez to fill, it would be surprising of the player wouldn’t jump at the chance to play under Pep Guardiola.
