Transfer News: Man City prepare huge John Stones bid #MCFC #EPL

Manchester City will come up with a £50m bid for Everton defender John Stones this summer. The Citizens are looking to bolster their backline ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Stones, 21, had been the subject of multiple bids from Chelsea last year, but the Toffees were firm in their bid to keep hold of their star asset.

The England international followed to have a fairly average campaign in the top flight with the Toffees shipping in goals at crucial stages, and this eventually led to Roberto Martinez’s dismissal from the head coach role.

The Independent says the Citizens will step up their interest in the young centre-back after they were rebuffed in their approach for Aymeric Laporte, who penned a contract extension at Athletic Bilbao.

City boss Pep Guardiola has been a strong admirer of Stones’ talents, and he is confident that a fee of around £50m would be sufficient to lure Everton into the player’s sale.

On the other hand, the Toffees will do their best to keep hold of their youngster with fellow teammate Romelu Lukaku being in the consideration to leave Goodison Park.

Stones joined the Merseyside outfit from Championship side Barnsley in 2013.
