All football fans have their preferences when it comes to national leagues and championships. But some matches transcend fandom and preferences. These are matches that every football fan should watch, no matter which club or national team they root for. This year, we have several major events that we should all mark on our football calendar. Here are the most important ones.
Liverpool v. Manchester City (March 10)
The English Premier League is the most followed national league in the world. English teams have fans in all corners of the globe. And their matches are bet on everywhere, from link Vwinin Vietnam to street-corner betting shops in South Africa.
The clash between Liverpool and Manchester City is one of the most important games in the current EPL season. It should be memorable, as it is one of the last high-profile clashes under the helm of Jürgen Klopp – and because the two teams are just one point apart in the Premier League standings.
Although it’s the second tier of UEFA’s pan-European club competition, the Europa League is worth keeping an eye on – even both. This is because the lineup of the clubs participating in this year’s edition is strong, with clubs like Liverpool, Roma, Sporting, and Leverkusen in competition for the title.
We’re looking forward to the draw that will decide the quarter-finals, set to be held in mid-March. Then, we’re looking forward to the matches played until the final.
At the time of writing, there are only a handful of teams left in the competition for the FA Cup title. Among them, are some of the top teams in the EPL, like Chelsea and Liverpool. The final, whoever will play it, will take place on May 25th – and we can’t wait to watch it.
UEFA Champions League Final (June 1st)
The UEFA Champions League is currently at the second leg of the Round of 16 that will decide which teams progress to the Quarter Finals. There are a handful of increasingly exciting matches yet to be played in the coming stages, up until the final that will be played on June 1st at the Wembley Stadium in London. I think it’s needless to say we can hardly wait.
And finally, let’s not forget about the highest level of European competition for national teams, the UEFA European Championship, hosted this year by Germany. The tournament starts on June 14th and lasts for a month, with the final scheduled for July 14 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Whichever national teams will play it, it will certainly be a great match to see.
These are the matches every football fan should watch in 2024. From high-stakes league clashes to the top of European competitions, these games promise moments to remember. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of a particular club or just love the beautiful game, these are the matches that you won’t want to miss. So, mark your calendars, set your reminders, and prepare for a year filled with drama, excitement, and quality football.
