Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland last night grabbed the ultimate in North East bragging rights, Premier League football, as the Black Cat’s flattened an insipid Everton 3-0 to condemn Newcastle to relegation.
All the nights goals came via Sunderland defenders Patrick van Aanholt, who opened the scoring on 38 minutes, and Lamina Traore who grabbed a brace against Martinez’s band of non entities. The result also meant Norwich would be joining Aston Villa and the Magpies in the cruel unforgiving world of Championship football next season.
Naturally Big Sam was in high spirits following the Black Cats relegation close call, here’s the best of the former Bolton and Newcastle manager celebrating with the players.
