Former Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini was left furious following an altercation with his opposite number during his sides Copa Italia quarter final win over Napoli last night.
The Internazionale boss was seen to be having angry words with Maurizio Sarri after the fourth official mistakenly indicated nine minutes of added time before changing his mind and showing five instead, a bout of hand bags that got the former Sampdoria player so riled he missed his sides 2nd goal when remonstrating with the Napoli bench on the way to their 2-0 win.
Only after the match however did it become apparent of the content that made him so angry.
Speaking to Rai TV about the indicent, Mancini spiled the beans:
“The confrontation on the touchline? You have to ask Sarri about that, he is a racist. People like him do not belong in football. He used racist words. I stood up to ask about the five minutes being added on and Sarri shouted ‘poof’ and ‘faggot’ at me. I would be proud to be that if he is what’s considered a man.”
Errr, yeah probably can’t say that.
Quizzed on his view on the incident, Sarri’s memory seemingly went a bit hazy, all he had to say was “that he could not remember” what he said to Mancini and that “what is said on the pitch should stay on the pitch”.
Classic ignorance from the coach who, after a match against Varese, once muttered the immortal words; “Football has become a sport for fags, We suffered twice as many fouls, but we had more yellow cards. It’s a contact sport in Italy and but the whistle is blown a lot more than in England because of the interpretation by homosexuals.”
Wow just wow.
No doubt a manager described by his peers as ‘a good footballing man’. Utter trash.
