It seems David Moyes’ fragile pale skin will be spared another Spanish summer after the former Everton boss was dealt a swift sacking by Real Socieded.
The club have been languishing perilously close to the relegation zone, a situation that left the Txuriurdin with no choice but to terminate Moyes’ contract along with assistant manager Billy McKinlay’s.
The Scottish manager, perhaps famed for a defensive approach to the game, initially started well upon joining last term after his famed Man Utd failing, even guiding his new side to a famous win over Barcelona. Alas it really wasn’t to be as Moyes has guided his side to four defeats from the last five matches.
The club released the following official statement;
Real Sociedad have decided to terminate the contract of first team coach David Moyes. His assistant Billy McKinlay has also left the club.
The Txuriurdin want to thank both David Moyes and Billy McKinlay for their entire contribution, professionalism and for the dedication they have shown during the course of their first-team duties.
We also wish them the best for their future, both professional and personal.
Despite fumbling in Manchester and Spain, we’re fairly confident the mans reputation among the Premier Leagues middle clubs remains intact. No doubt a job will come up pretty sharpish.
The question of course is whether he deserves it.
