After four trophy laden years with the Old Lady, it’s finally been confirmed that Andrea Pirlo, the midfield maestro to end all midfield meastros, has signed for New York FC.
Having been picked up on a free as 32 year old from AC Milan, the Italian has gone on to claim four Scudetto’s culminating in last seasons Champions League final. Perhaps even more surreal is his world wide fame, ala Zlatan, as possibly the coolest midfielder ever to play the sport. Something that Pirlo has taken with a degree of irony after a tidal wave of memes seem to follow ever time he does so something of note……that is to say, without irony, Pirlo has undoubtedly been one of the greatest midfielders of the past four years.
Whilst being an Inter Milan fan at heart, Pirlo ingratiated himself with AC Milan fans and then, perhaps more so, became a fan favourite with Juve fans.
