Judging from previous run ins with a fellow bonkers Serie A club owner, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini is no stranger to the odd overly emotional outburst.
Even for a man as mad as a box of twats like he is, perhaps this latest stunt will seem a little too far even for his standards.
After being given his marching orders from the club on no less than two occasions already this season, first time back in November following a 1-0 win against Chievo, then a second time just months later after having his position filled by Davide Ballardini, poor old Giuseppe Iachini will be unsure whether to laugh or cry after finding himself jobless for the third time.
Apparently taking exception to his “loser mentality”, i.e, approaching games with his favoured 5-3-2 formation, Zamparini has got sick of the sight of his come-to-guy after a steak of defeats has left Palermo perilously close to the bottom of the table.
To put things into a little more perspective here is a short timeline of events….
– Iachini is first sacked back in November in the immediate aftermath of a 1-0 win over Chievo. Replacement Davide Ballardini lasts just seven games before being relieved of his duties.
– Iachini once again steps in only to be fired days later for the audacity to ask for transfer funds.
– Ballardini is hired but swiftly loses the dressing room to the extent that he was refusing to talk to his players come mid-January.
– Iachini once again steps in, 9 games later…..Here we are.
Utter mind bending madness.
