Well,
We’ve all been quite aware that a certain Sep Blatter’s goose is all but cooked in light of recent criminal investigations, it now seems his UEFA equivalent, and strong future FIFA president candidate, Michel Platini has also felt the strong back hand of FIFA’s ethics committee.
Platini of course has only entered the dirty game recently after questions were raised over a payment received £1.6million from FIFA – 9 years after the contract work he professes to have received funds for.
Both, along with FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke, have been dealt a provisional 90 day ban whilst investigations proceed regarding various dodgy deals.
After the news broke, Platini released the following statement; “This deliberate leak is insidious in nature and has come about in an unacceptable manner.
It is essentially an attempt to damage my reputation.”
Quite.
Chung Mong-joon, previously a FIFA candidate who’s made no bones about his disgust of Sepp’s reign, has himself been dealt a hefty 6 year ban along with a 100,000 Swiss francs fine.
And so it all falls in on itself….
You’d think this would be the absolute end of the world in regards to the organisations future.
Fortunately the official FIFA website was rather relaxed about the whole affair. Merely commenting about some investigation or other….
