Ronaldo’s footballing career is a true rags-to-riches story.

Beginning at the tiny club of Andorinha, where he played for two seasons. Ronaldo eventually made the big move to Sporting Hwere he sported some incredible classic football shirts). It was during a seemingly innocuous friendly against Manchester United, in which John O’Shea was given the runaround of his life, that Sir Alex Ferguson decided to part with 12.24 million in 2003. The rest is very much history.

Now the multi Champions League winner, after a career only any of us mere mortals can dream of,  has left the European top flight, and settled in at Saudi outfit Al-Nassr. Whilst the level of the football is substantially lower, the players pay packet is as big as ever.

This is where things get eye watering. at one point in time Ronaldo was picking up a £15 million a year ($21.5m) salary – putting him up among Europe’s biggest earners.

In order to convince the forward that Saudi Arabia should be his next destination, Ronaldo’s salary tops  $215 million (£177m) a year. Thats $4.1 million (£3.4m) a week.
