Klaassen, 24, has been a pivotal player for Ajax this season, scoring a commendable 15 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions – fantastic form that has propelled De Godenzonen to second in the Dutch Eredivisie so far.
The Dutch international’s brilliant performances are thought to have caught the attention of Everton manager Ronald Koeman. Indeed, according to the Mirror, the Toffees boss is eager to bring his compatriot to Goodison Park once the transfer window re-opens in June and has the full backing of the club board.
Koeman, a former Ajax player and manager, still has connections inside the Amsterdam ArenA and is confident he can seal the deal for the Dutch midfielder.
His cause is helped by Klaassen’s contract, which is set to expire in 2019. This means Everton can get the talented midfield wizard for a lower price. As it stands, many believe the player’s market value is at the ballpark of £13-million and the Premier League club see no problems in paying that amount.
For a talent of his calibre, Klaasen can be considered to be in the same vein as Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen – both are fantastic with the ball, and they both possess enough flair and finesse that can prove daunting for any opposition defence. With such phenomenal skills in his repertoire, the 24-year-old from Hilversum will definitely be a great buy for Everton.
