What with their side limping to a 2-2 draw with Arsenal, putting rivals Manchester United right back in the driving seat in terms of the last Champions League spot, Man City fans weren’t to keen to give poor old Manuel Pellegrini a decent Etihad send send off following yesterdays must win Premier League fixture. Whilst the home side twice lead through goals from Agüero and De Bruyne, the Gunner’s struck back through a long awaited finish via Giroud and a 68th minute equaliser from Alexis Sánchez.
With the City boss making way for a younger, faster model in the shape of Pep Guardiola this summer, it was shame to see a large amount of home fans empty the ground before Pellegrini could give his goodbye speech.

The Chilean claimed a Premier League title and two League Cups, along with a very first appearance in the Champions League semi-final, during a three year stint at the club. Despite many a City fan remembering the truly dour years in the lower divisions, for some, his legacy wasn’t deemed worthy of staying to applaud him off.
As things stand Louis Van Gaal’s United side are two points behind their rivals with a game in hand. Despite looking like throwing their big chance away weeks prior, wins at West Ham and Bournemouth will see the Red Devils return to Europe’s biggest competition, leaving new boss Pep Guardiola with the prospect of Europa League football in the process.
