Manchester City linked with Victor Valdes

Manchester City incoming manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly weighing up a summer move for the Spanish goalie Victor Valdes, who is available on a free transfer after the keeper was released by Manchester United.

The 34-year-old former Man United keeper has had an unsuccessful spell during 2015-16 season, having played only two first-team games for the Red Devils under the Dutch boss Louis van Gaal.

The Citizens are on the lookout for another shot-stopper and the report states they are looking into the availability of the Spaniard, who is now a free agent after spending the last six months on loan at the Belgian club Standard Liege – where he made seven appearances.

Guardiola and Valdes both had a quite successful time together at the Nou Camp from 2008 until 2012, where they won three La Liga, two Champions League and the Copa Del Rey on two occasions.

If Valdes head to the Etihad Stadium, it would be interesting to see a serious challenger for the number one spot in the side.
