As moronic a public figure he seems, Sepp Blatter’s power over his ‘family’ of FIFA delegates has been reminiscent of modern day godfather. With the Swiss born president’s career taking an almighty nose-dive in light of recent events, it’s good to see the stranglehold of fear held over anyone associated with the organisation starting to subside.
Take for instance South Korean Chung Mong-joon, a former vice president hoping to become top dog, who flat out doesn’t give too hoots what the current man in charge thinks of him.
Speaking to the BBC about Sepp he barraged:
Like a cannibal eating his parents and then crying like he’s an orphan, he tries to blame everybody except himself.
Interesting choice of words, but we’re loving the energy.
Continuing with a slightly less sensationalist tone;
“I am going to stand as a candidate for the Fifa presidency,”
“It’s not easy but people don’t want to be part of corruption. They want to be part of the solution. We cannot leave Fifa in this kind of disgrace.”
Whilst not holding any concrete nominations, he reiterated that assurances had been made from Concacaf on a recent trip to the United States leaving him with over 5 votes.
“If I get elected, my job is not to enjoy the luxury of the office. My job is to change it … it is time that Fifa had a non-European leadership. Fifa became a closed organisation for President Blatter, his associates and his cronies and I want to change that.”
Very much waiving his sieve at this point, Ching Mong-joon aimed his cross hares at his presidency rival Michel Platini;
“Mr Platini enjoys institutional support from the current structure of Fifa. Mr Platini is very much a product of the current system.”
Savage stuff…
