Like a demon sent from the farthest reaches of the underworld to test football supporters everywhere, Massimo Cellino’s reputation for being ‘difficult’ has been well and truly realised as he runs Leeds United into the ground with the reactionary attitude of a five year old.
So perhaps this will be music to the ears of Leeds fans everywhere.
On the same day it was announced that Uwe Rosler would be the clubs fifth management casualty in just one year, not to mention replacing him with the risible Steve Evans, Cellino has received a season ban following his conviction for tax evasion in Italy.
Cellino was found guilty in June of the offence and fined €40,000 (£28,400) for non-payment of VAT on a Range Rover which he imported into his native Italy.
Based on the The league’s owners’ and directors’ test, a person convicted of a dishonest crime is not allowed to own more than 30% of shares of a club or be involved with the day to day running at an executive level.
It’s believed that the Italian owner will seek the refuge of an appeal, for which he has until the 28th of October to do so.
Whilst the news presents a smidge of good news for all connected with the club, the fact that they have just 2 wins in 11 along with the prospect of being managed by someone equally despicable, it’s really all looking rather bad for the Yorkshire club.
