Whilst a few starts here-and-there, before being used as a makeweight for an incoming Andy Cole, hardly makes you a legend, never-the-less former N Ireland winger Keith Gillespie turned out for a Manchester United XI this weekend.
Lining up for a charity game alongside the likes of Bryan Robson, Paul Scholes and Dwight Yorke against an Australian XI, the former Newcastle speedster took exception to ex-Huddersfield Town player Dean Heffernan’s light push during the encounter.
Possibly forgetting the fixture was played purely in honour of West Ham youngster Dylan Tombies, who died after a long battler with cancer in 2014, Gillespie hit out at his marker with a rather disgusting elbow.
@BrentonSpeed @Heff35 just seen this and it’s an absolute disgrace from Gillespie in a charity match for a great cause. #Disgusting. pic.twitter.com/OEEScnzlx0

Brutal.
It was, in fact, as bad as it looked as well as his victim required a visit to the hospital.
The incident happened late in the match with an opposite Australian XI running out comfortable 3-0 winners.
Its still anyone’s guess as to what Heffernan said to the winger in order to receive such shocking treatment.
