Keisuke Honda: Tottenham, West Ham and Southampton all eye Milan playmaker in Jan window

30-year-old Japan international Keisuke Honda appears set to leave AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to La Repubblica, with a trio of Premier League teams in the hunt for the attacking midfielder’s signature.

Having appeared in just 81 minutes for manager Vincenzo Montella, it has become clear Honda has no place moving forward with Milan, after scoring 8 goals and assisting 10 more in three previous seasons with the Serie A side.

His suitors include Tottenham, West Ham, and Southampton, though Mauricio Pochettino’s side appears to be the frontrunner of the group. Christian Eriksen is no doubt an integral piece of the roster, but some support and relief in the way of Honda’s flair for creativity could help their quest to return to Champion’s League football.

In contract until the summer of 2017, Honda has experience in several of the world’s top leagues, including Serie A, Premier Liga and Eredivisie to go with 36 goals in 86 caps for Japan.

Several Chinese Super League teams appear to be in on Honda as well, mucking up the waters for all potential suitors. Wherever he lands, he will be looking to make an immediate, important impact on the pitch.
