Just 3 months after moving ending his Aston Villa disaster with a move to Greece, Joleon Lescott’s time with AEK Athens has come to an abrupt end after the club decided to tear up his contract.
The former England international, not to mention most hated man in the Midlands, had hoped to play a key part in the side’s Greek Super League title mount, however after appearing just four times for the side Lescott is back looking for a new club.
The defenders last appearance for the side was a 3-0 defeat to table toppers Olympiakos in early October. A subsequent knee injury led to Lescott seeking treatment back in England, a move thought to have riled his employers.
With the player most definitely in the latter stages of his career, it will be interesting if any Championship clubs will be willing take a punt on the defender.
AEK FC and Joleon Lescott mutual agreed the termination of his contract.
