With his move to West Ham collapsing due to some rather hefty fan intervention, Joey Barton has made the move to Burnley – a set of fans not necessarily ready to accept the much maligned midfielder with the open arms he may hope.
Whilst it’s undeniable Sean Dyche has picked up a seemingly reformed and experienced Premier League midfield battler, the former Newcastle and Man City man has quite the history with the clubs supporters.
Beginning with a Coke bottle hitting the back of his head, thrown by a Burnley supporter during a Championship fixture back in 2013, Barton has continuously taken to Twitter in an effort to ingratiate himself with the locals.
@Joey7Barton wow you ought to think before you tweet. Qpr are dog shit. Full of over rated pre maddonas like yourself

In my defence Burnley fans started this by chucking a bottle of coke at my head. I hope you get the ‘large’ crowds your expecting! #20k

@GaryMurg We might be crap. We may well be really over rated but at least we don’t have to live in Burnley!
