Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has reiterated his club’s position that they will not be open to selling their mercurial winger, Croatia international Ivan Perisic, in the summer despite interest from the Premier League elite.
The 28-year-old Perisic has been in commendable form for the Nerazurri this season, scoring seven goals and assisting in five more in his 23 appearances in the Italian Serie A so far, providing Inter with blistering pace on the offensive.
Such outstanding form is thought to have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs. To this effect, Inter chief Ausilio has maintained his club are keen to keep Perisic rooted to the San Siro beyond the summer.
“I do not think it is either Perisic’s or our intentions for him to leave,” Ausilio said in an interview with the Daily Star.
“He is part of a massive project and we do not want to sell our players. We cannot envisage an Inter without Perisic. And we are not going to get rid of our best players,” the Inter sporting director added.
Ausilio’s comments have come after rampant rumours that the former Wolfsburg wingman could be on his way to England, with three Premier League clubs eyeing a move for the Croatian come the summer. Those three clubs are as follows:
Chelsea
Current league leaders Chelsea are thought to be angling a move for the Croatian in an effort to bolster their squad for next season’s challenge. With the Stamford Bridge outfit eight points clear at the top of the table with just 13 games left to play, Blues boss Antonio Conte is confident the title is within reach and is already looking towards next season’s title defence – he believes bringing in a playmaker like Perisic could be a big step towards helping the club do well in the league next season yet again.
Liverpool
After a disappointing start to the year, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to reinforce his squad in order to make a better account of themselves come next season. With Sadio Mane the only natural winger in the Liverpool ranks Klopp judges as fit to play for the first team, the German tactician is eager he could reinforce that part of the pitch with the arrival of Perisic.
Manchester United
Ever since the departures of Nani and Angel Di Maria back in the summer of 2015, Manchester United have been without a natural left winger in their squad. And while the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are doing very well in the role, Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho is thought to be keen on adding an out-and-out winger to his side and Perisic certainly fits the bill.
