Dimitri Payet: West Ham talisman suggests he could move in January transfer window

Given West Ham’s sterling account of themselves last season, many tipped the Hammer’s to progress under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic this term, largely due to the fact that they managed to keep ahold of their key players.

Central to their Champions League fight was a certain Dimitri Payet, who’s mercurial performances led to him being headhunted by a host of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer.

Now that the London Stadium side are languishing at the wrong end of then table, the footballing media have began to raise question marks of the Frenchman chances of staying a West Ham player past January.

Indeed one of Euro 2016’s star players didn’t exactly fill the Hammers supporters with confidence when questioned over his future in a recent interview on French television show Telefoot.

Payet said: ‘We’ve had a very poor start. Leave in January? I’m asking other questions right now but I’ve closed the door to nothing.

‘Until now, I always chose my clubs depending on the sports project. I work like that. Until I can play at a level like this, it will be the case.

‘Go to PSG or Marseille? For now, they have not come to me, so I do not ask myself.’

Bilic’s side came close to giving their French playmaker another reason to stay, however a 75th minute Bojan goal meant they had to share a 1-1 draw with Stoke City.

As far West Ham sit 4 points above the relegation zone after 11 matches with fixtures against Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United coming up in the next few weeks.
