Premier League stalwarts Chelsea are thought to be in discussions to extend the contract of their prolific target man Diego Costa.
The 28-year-old Spanish international has a contract that ties him to Chelsea until 2019, but it has been reported that the Blues hierarchy are keen on keeping their star striker at Stamford Bridge for longer.
True enough, according to Spanish daily SPORT, Chelsea are in the process of offering Costa a contract which will see him play in the blue side of London until 2021. And to convince the striker to sign the deal, Chelsea are willing to increase his wages to a staggering £200k a week.
As it stands, Costa is only earning an estimated value of £150k a week.
The contract could be seen as a reward for the on-form striker, who has been in scintillating form this season, tallying a total 13 goals in 17 appearances in the league so far.
Costa made his move to London in the summer of 2014, when Chelsea parted ways with a sum of no less than 38 million Euros to poach the Spaniard from Atletico Madrid. Since then he has scored a total 50 goals for the London giants, appearing in 97 matches.
Costa started his professional footballing career with Portuguese side Sporting Braga, but did not make a competitive appearance for the club until after his loan spell with lower-tier Portuguese side Penafiel. Since then he has played for the likes of Atletico, Celta de Vigo, Albacete, and Rayo Vallecano.
