In what would be considered terrible news for fans of Burnley, it is being reported that Leicester City could be closing in on signing young English center back Michael Keane. Keane has been a real bright spot for Burnley this term and subsequently has impressed many clubs, now Claudio Ranieri is eager to bring him in to help fix his cracking defense after a swift downhill turn following an impressive run last season.
Ranieri has Champions League football in the spring to offer the young Englishman as well as a place in the side of the former champions. Having already attempted to buy him in the summer, Ranieri is eager to try again. Keane is seen as someone that can come in and command the area with his heading ability and his passing. The former Manchester United trainee has worked his way into Premier League football after going down to the Championship and helping Burnley get promoted.
This would be a particularly big blow to Burnley as they would be losing one of their top players to a fellow relegation contender. Leicester are only three points off the bottom three as it stands, and they will be desperate to change that around in time for them to make the most of their Champions League run. Burnley manager Sean Dyche doesn’t want to see him leave as he will be fearful of having to once again face the drop. If this deal goes through, it will have the potential to swing the entire season for these two sides.
