Whilst there’s been an air of inevitability over the whole things since he was first appointed, it seems rather a tad early to sack poor old Rafa Benitez.
However, sack him they have.
Just seven months into his tenure, a move which brought tears (happy) to the former Liverpool boss when he was initially unveiled to the baying mob that is Madrid supporters, results such as the 4-0 El Clasico mauling by Barcelona and the weekends 2-2 draw with Valencia, putting the side 4 points behind the Catalans at the tables summit, have been deemed not good enough by Florentino Perez and co.
Results aside, the Spaniards more than questionable relationship with his players no doubt would have been a considerable factor.
Club legend Zinedine Zidane, who has helmed the clubs B team since 2014, has been sworn in the new man in charge;
And Zizou was mightily chuffed with the news;
“Firstly I would like to thank the club and the president for giving me the chance to coach this team, We have the best club in the world and the best fans in the world,” the Frenchman added.
Benitez will have every right in the world to feel absolutely furious with his sacking, he’ll hopefully be comforted by the fact that Real Madrid are helmed, and largely supported by, a bunch of self righteous spoilt brats.
Saying that, Is there any club in world football looking forward to Rafa Benitez taking charge of their club?
