With the league’s finest already spending over £300m this transfer window, many Manchester City fans our busy wondering if the club is about to unload an unholy amount of dosh on a true marquee signing to accompany their marquee manager.
Well, judging from the activity of some high profile bookmakers, they may be close to signing a true world beater.
According to the infamous ‘Lad Bible’, Ladbrokes odds on the Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez joining the Etihad have been slashed from 12/1 to 7/1.
Whilst City already boast one of the greatest strikers in the world in the shape of Sergio Aguero, the purchase of the great Suarez would make Pep’s side heavy favourites to bring the Premier League trophy back to the blue side of Manchester – no doubt a potential word record fee would be required to seal his services.
The Uruguayan has just come off another stellar season with the Catalan’s, converting 40 goals to see off likely lad Messi and Ronaldo to La Liga’s top scorer award.
Whilst the season highlight was no doubt helping his side to yet another league title, the former Liverpool favourite has just come off the back of a nightmare Copa America in which he was involved in a public bust up with the national teams staff following an early tournament exit.
