It’s no wonder throughout certain sections of society that large groups of football supporters bring feelings of fear and loathing to all they encounter.
Very much riffing on this presumed ugly stereotype, baseball bat welding Saint Etienne ultras, seemingly at a loose end this international break, embarked on trashing the wedding of a Lyon supporter held at the Chateau de Talance.
As the buffet, cake and the rest of the general proceeding were well and truly ruined by the gaggle of hooded supporters, it suddenly became apparent that they’re true target was in fact getting married five minutes down the road.
That’s right, they blitzed the wrong wedding.
A witness commented on the incident; Everything was going through our heads when it happened. We even thought it might be terrorists.
They smashed everything. The staff were traumatised.
A van that we did not recognise came to the chateau and around a dozen hooded individuals got out.
When they reached the esplanade, where the reception was due to take place, they threw green smoke bombs and smashed up the buffet with bars and bats.
French Police are now investigation the ugly incident with an official spokesman commenting: “It was an extremely violent attack on an innocent couple’s day.”
Arseholes.
