What with many a manager considering the position to be somewhat of a poison chalice in light of the last decade, Sam Allardyce has seemingly become heavy favourite to become the new England manager.
After being considered for the role in 2006, for which he delivers a dynamite PowerPoint presentation let’s not forget, the Sunderland manager has found himself interviewed at the second time of asking after snaps of a meeting at the Cheshire home of FA kingmaker David Gill.
Photographed by the Daily Mail, Big Sam can be seen club clutching a bag, it’s contents possibly being a decisive factor in the hiring of the former West Ham and Bolton manager.
Not only that, it’s understood that Sir Alex Ferguson has sounded out Allardyce as his personal choice for the big job. A footballing figure that FA technical boss Dan Ashworth and chief executive Martin Glenn may find difficult to ignore.
What with Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe still very much cutting his teeth at Premier League level, the relegation specialist genuinely feels like the man likely to lead England out for the incoming World Cup qualifiers.
We’re not sure if we’re against the decision or morbidly fascinated at the proposition to be quite honest.
What do we think England fans?
