“It was s***”- Wolfsburg manager rolls out the superlatives for Smalling winner

After being turned over in Eindhoven, Manchester United have finally put their Champions League wheels in motion with a battling 2-1 win over German side Wolfsburg.

Not exactly a performance to get the critics raving, however particular praise was bestowed to Juan Mata who set up Chris Smalling’s winner with the most outrageous of back heel flicks.

Not that Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking was quite as forthcoming with compliments.

He said: “Again, the second goal was unlucky. As we say in Germany, ‘a s** goal’.”
