West Ham 3-4 Bournemouth

Doubts have been raised as to whether Eddie Howe’s side have the ‘minerals’ to stay in such a combative division as the Premier League, one thing’s for sure, the south coast side will try and play their way out of any trouble they come accross from now till May. Lets not rush into the patrionising lable of ‘plucky underdogs’ just yet.

Slaven Bilic’s side were shell-shocked from the start with Callum Wilson putting his side two goals to the good with two first time finishes, both goals with Adam Creswell at fault. Whilst the Hammers were hauled back into it with a Mark Noble penalty and a Cheikhou Kouyate leveller, the Cherries pushed on with a 66th minute Danny Pugh goal and a fourth to finish it via another Wilson finish.

Eddie Howe admitted post match that the last few minutes were ‘terrifying’ as a first Premier League victory was threatened, firstly with a third West Ham goal via Maiga, and then a desperate goal mouth scramble due to a needless foul gifted to the home side. Despite some defensive naivity, Bournemouth have plenty to build on with the albatross that is the clubs first three points, well and truly off their collective necks.

Callum Wilson v West Ham

Whilst this weekend saw sterling performances from two very talented Spanish attacking midielfers, Chelsea’s Pedro and Man City’s Silva, Callum Wilson’s hat trick against West Ham was enough for him to claim our best player of the week vote.

Its been quite a journey for the striker who plied his trade in League One just last year, in fact the 23-year-old only made his full Football League debut in 2013.

Whilst the West Ham defenders played as if they’d taken one too many valiums, Wilson was the epitome of a ‘busy’ striker as he pulled the centre back pairing around at will, adding deft insisive finishing to Bournemouth’s attacking football.
In all, a nightmare to defend against.

The entire West ham back line against Bournemouth.

Adam Creswell and Carl Jenkinson were abominations, collectively gifting Callum Wilson his hat trick. If we had to nail it to one, we’d say Jenkinson – every fan in the ground could see that the maruding Max Gradel was going to make mince meat of the former Arsenal defender in the lead-up to the fourth.

Matias V Leeds United

This absolute beaty from Sheffield Wednesday’s Marco Matias during the side Yorkshire derby with Leeds.

A mix of Paul Gascoigne and Tony Yeboah.

A Gaboah, if you will.

Van Gaal not offering Pedro his weight in gold.

Pedro was simply excellent against West Brom.

Two goals and an assist in a riduclously assured debut performance from the Spanish international, never phased by all the pre-transfer fuss, always composed and insive when on the ball. It’s almost as if his talent has been previously overshadowed by the greatest footballer the world has ever seen.

All during a weekend when United looked positively feeble in attack against a far inferior opposition.
