After being unveiled by Steve McClaren as Newcastle’s first signing since the former England manager joined the seemingly poisoned chalice that is Newcastle United, the Dutchman was kind enough to lend his face to some rather unforgettable wedding snaps for newly married couple Rikki and Emma Donaldson.
The Newcastle United mad pair were busy saying their vows at their St James’s Park hosted special day when they caught wind that the man formally known as ‘Shteve’ was presenting his new star man.
Speaking to the Newcastle Echo, the pair commented;
The rest of our wedding party was back in the suite and Rikki and I were taken pitch-side to have our wedding photos done.
When we were there, we got wind Steve McClaren was going to be unveiling Newcastle’s new signing – we couldn’t believe it!
The next thing we knew, Steve came out with the new player. We got talking to them both and they were actually really good banter!
They were both really nice and they we’re more than happy for our wedding photographer to take a few pictures.
I was talking to the new signing as I used to live in Holland, so, we were talking about that.
He was really nice and friendly. We invited him up to the wedding celebrations in the suite but he couldn’t come as he had a plane to catch.
