If you think of the furore caused by Everton’s update of their club crest over a year ago, it’s plain to see that the imagery representing Premier League clubs are of high importance to its fans.
With that in mind perhaps Manchester City can expect a backlash of sorts from portions of its support as they prepare to roll out an update of the club badge.
Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but the Manchester Evening news has run with the story that the IPO, that is the UK government’s official body for recognising and protecting intellectual property rights across the UK, has leaked the design.

Back in September the club enlisted the help of its supporters to determine what they would like to see in the new version.
By far the most popular suggestion was a return to the previous crest design, eg sailing ship and Lancashire rose.
Just like so……
As shown on Twitter however, you really can’t please everyone……….
