Joey Barton’s Rangers career in the balance after being signed off for stress reasons

The latter stages of Joey Barton’s playing career looks to have hit yet another divet in an already wonky road.

Following a six week suspension for a training ground incident in the wake of the side’s 5-1 shellacking by Celtic, not to mention a pending SFA charge for alleged betting breaches, Barton has more been signed off for a couple of weeks due to stress.

Up till now the former Manchester City midfielder has been training with the U-23 side whilst he waits out the rest of the ban, however the BBC have commented that the Barton hasn’t been seen at the Scottish clubs training ground since last Thursday.

It’s believed Rangers’ upper hierarchy are in negotiations to pay off the total of Barton’s £20,000 a week contract, making the derisive Barton available in January for anyone willing to take a punt on him.

Any what could possibly put any potential suitors off, ay?
