Hulk signs for Shanghai SIPG for a massive £46.1m

Following on from the legions of genially talented footballers in their pomp moving to a cash rich China, Brazil forward Hulk has become the most expensive signing in Asian football with a £46.1m (55.8m euros) move to Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG from Zenit St Petersburg.

Shanghai, rather wonderfully managed by Dispensable Soccer favourite Sven-Goran Eriksson, broke the previous record of £38.4m that Jiangsu Suning paid for fellow Brazilian Alex Teixeira.

After scoring a respectable 21 goals for Russian side Zenit last season, Hulk can look forward to joining up with fellow strike partner and lover of money Asamoah Gyan .

The transfer represent a rather large coup to country who announced much earlier in the year that they have plans to become a “world football superpower” by 2050.

After 97 league matches and still at the young age of 29, Hulk surely has plenty of years behind him. Still, we bet Zenit couldn’t believe their luck when the Chinese side accepted the asking fee.

Surely £46.1m is a tad overpriced?
