Czech amateur league game ends with a mammoth 52 spot-kick penalty finale

Congratulations must either go to the many successful penalty takers or god-awful goalkeepers that played their part in a record breaking 52 spot kicked penalty shootout.

Whilst neither of the Czech amateur league sides, SK Batov or FC Frystak, intended to be be breaking records in such fashion, the fifth tier sides did eventually allow their suffering fans the opportunity to go home after SK ran out 21-20 winners after a cracking 120 minutes with the score at 3-3.

According to Czech newspaper DNES, onlookers could be heard shouting “at last” after Frystak midfielder Jan Hrebacka smashed his penalty over the crossbar to give his opposition the win after the 26th round of kicks.

Even Frystak club chairman Vratislav Rudolf had quite enough the never ending shoot-out, saying he was desperate to leave by the end of the ordeal as he “had a family barbecue at home”.

Charming.

Impressive as it may be, the über shootout won’t make it into the famed Guinness Book of World Records as the match wasn’t professional.

Meaning, the current record that still stands is the 48 penalties it took for KK Palace to finally see off Civics in the Namibian Cup final.

We’ll always know the true holders to that title however……
