Scandal at Doncaster Rovers after celeb fan 1D’s Louis Tomlinson suspiciously wins kit design competition

Whilst the One Direction stars enthusiasm for the club can’t be denied, the upper echelons of Doncaster Rovers’s board must have been rubbing their hands together frantically ever since Louis Tomlinson insisted on becoming involved with the club.

The club recently publicised a competition for their loyal fans to design a brand new away kit for the 16/17 season. After the Popstar’s entry was put forward to the public vote along with five others, it received 33.7% of the vote meaning he was the winner.

Possibly smelling a rat, the 24 year old has now become embroiled in a club scandal with fans rather suspicious of the outcome. Not only that, the fact the club plan to give away 20 signed copies of the shirts has highlighted things further. Needless to say, Social media was awash with intrigue…..

Both Doncaster and Tomlinson have adamantly refuted any wrong doing in the comp, with a spokesman for the club telling BBC Sport:

The process for receiving kit designs, shortlisting and the public voting for our kit design competition followed strict legal guidance to ensure that the club adhered to competition law and that all processes were fair. We are aware that the result of the competition has attracted some negative feedback, but we can assure our fans that the voting process for the 2016/17 shirt designs was all was fair and above board.

Oooh the intrigue!

Just for the record we think the design is bang average.

But what do we know.
