30 – Tottenham have failed to score for the first time in 30 PL home games, since a 0-1 defeat to Leicester in January 2016. Frustrated. pic.twitter.com/DCuf4a1oT0— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) September 16, 2017
Despite the clinical prowess of Harry Kane combined with the intelligence of their formidable midfielders, London giants Tottenham Hotspur failed to score in front of their fans against minnows Swansea City. The match between the two Premier League sides ended in a boring 0-0 draw. The dull affair gave Spurs a point, which allowed them to jump to fifth place in virtue of goal difference. But it also meant they’ve only managed to win eight points out of five games, same as the likes of Huddersfield, Burnley, and Watford. It would be laughable to think Spurs are fine seeing themselves in the same footing as these teams. Tottenham kicked things off at Wembley stadium on the attack, with Harry Kane nearly grabbing a goal in the 9th minute from a dead-ball situation. The English forward struck the ball perfectly from 25 yards out and targeted the bottom corner. However, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski did well to save the fabulous strike. The Lilywhite kept the pressure on all throughout the first 45, with Swansea completely shackled in their own half. Despite this, Tottenham couldn’t grab a single goal despite close efforts from the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. Things nearly crumbled for Tottenham just before half-time. Swansea managed to pull off a quick counter-attack and won a corner. The corner was taken and Swans defender Mike van der Hoorn was there to take the free header. The shot, however, goes over.
